The opening ceremony was held at 7:00 pm in Fajhan Hilal Al Mutairi Qadsia Sporting Club . The Chief guest Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al Sabah – Minister of Social Affair , The Chairman of PSA John F Herrick , the VIP & honored guest were present in this cerenomy . The President of Managing Committee Sheikha Fadia Abdullah Al Sabah started her speech by praising the State of Kuwait, the land of patriotism, which hosts this memorable sports event.
She also thanked the Kuwaiti leadership Specially for securing the success of the Sheikha Squash Al Saad Kuwait Open . She thanked Sheikh Talal Al-Fahad, President of the Qadsia Sporting Club for Squash Courts and she also thanked Salmiya Sporting Club for Supporting the last two events. The Chief guest Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al Sabah announced the Opening of the Tournament with all the success. Mr Robert Edwards – PSA Tour Director introduced the PSA & WISPA Players and thanked Sheikha Fadia Al Sabah for making this a World’s richest squash tournament and settings a new record for player prize fund .
The Open ceremony was a great success , latest laser & sound system were used . 6 beautiful songs were sanged by Nabeel Al Shael & Ahmed Al Harbi which showed Kuwaiti culture and tradition.
1st Match was played between Badr Al Hussaini vs Mohammed Abbas , The match ended 3-0 for Mohammed Abbas. The 2nd match was between Amr shabana vs Alister Walkers and Amr Al Shabana was able to win 3-2.
